Sigulda region Social help department carries out social work with individuals, families and groups of persons, offers social services or organises those services for families with children, where there are intimic conditions for a child, foster families, legal guardians, individuals, who take care of family members, disabled persons, senior citizens, mentally handicapped individuals and other groups of individuals and gives social help.

Family support centre carries out social work, gives social services to foster families with children.

Day centre gives social services to disabled persons, senior citizens and persons from risk groups. Day centre offers free of charge social services and provides premises for unions, support groups and clubs, gives chance for people to enrich their social life, deal with the problems and retain their usual environment, form a social support network. Day centre provides services of the psychologist and free of charge lawyer consultations for people in need.

Social help specialists give social help to low income families.

Sigulda region social help department provides several support and educational groups for parents; children and teachers, gives opportunity for children from families with low income to participate in summer camps and provides social workers in every educational institution to consult students and their parents.

Health Care

There are several private medical practices, health centre and Riga region hospital accessible to Sigulda region inhabitants. Technical support for those institutions, thanks to Sigulda region council’s support, stocks up with up modern healthcare equipment every year. Several investments were made in hospital and health centre modernisation, renovation of the premises.

Riga region hospital according to State health care administration plan is planned to be the only State designated stationary in Riga region. Now it is the greatest health protection enterprise in Riga region, where offers many types of medical treatment.
